Charcoal Tooth Paste – At love natural love me in Olympia I brought some amazing toothpaste by Redmond Clay which was Bentonite. There is a lovely company now importing it into the UK. I got lemon and peppermint and I am in love with the lemon flavour why dont toothpaste always come in that flavour! My youngest absolutely hates peppermint flavour so this is great for him.
I have made toothpaste before but have decided to make some more for my family. I love the idea of charcoal as people say it has whitening properties and add it with coconut oil which I have read have similar properties. Got to be worth a try…
2 Teaspoons Organic Coconut Oil (Supermarket)
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda / Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking Isle Supermarket)
1 Teaspoon Bentonite Clay (Health food Shop or online)
1 Teaspoon Charcoal ( Braggs do pharmaceutical grade Charcoal)
It mixed really well and easy into a paste… One tip let the coconut warm up so easier to blend
Right, my husband loves it but me and my youngest really have the issue with the texture and the strong coconut flavour BUT my teeth feel like I have just come back from the dentist. So so so clean!
It is amazing if you can deal with texture and coconut flavour. Wondering if adding essential oils my dull down the intense coconut flavour. I think I will try that and let you know 🙂
Next Challenge – Try Turmeric Toothpaste and maybe aim towards Earthpaste flavour of lemon!
Earthpaste seem to add water rather than an oil. Water always worries me as I know how dangerous it can be in products. Interesting thing they state in no glycerin and I have read a number of recipes that use glycerin instead of coocnut oil so intrigued as to why glycerin is negative. I feel some research coming on…
